With 10 years of experience re-grouting I found that not all re-grouting blades could do the job, especially carbide blades. It was difficult to source good blades. To this day I still re-grout, mostly showers, and I don't need any other types of multi tool blades. The four listed here are all I use.
At MTBlades.com.au we are very proud to be releasing a new premium diamond plated multi tool blade – The 2mm Premium Diamond Multi Tool Blade (sku0079)
This diamond swing blade is an essential accessory tool for re-grouters. If you need to remove grout on shower walls, this particular blade is a necessary requirement to do the job well. The blade edge is slightly less than 2mm, approximately 1.95mm.
This blade was specifically manufactured with re-grouting in mind, especially between wall tiles, although it can be used in multiple applications. The blade edge is of the highest standard. It was tested against other competing diamond blades. It will last longer and saw with precision. This is a premium diamond saw blade.
This blade will suit professional shower re-grouting. We recommend use in conjunction with the 91mm semi-circular diamond
blade (sku 0068), which is best for the bulk of grout removal in shower walls.
The thin blade edge (1.95mm) allows for easy slicing through grout and other materials. Combining this with the large radius of the blade (91mm), the width of the oscillation is greater also. Through person experience and almost 10yrs of re-grouting I personally found this to be the ultimate wall grout remover. Us this in combination with the blade above to see excellent a fast results.
This blade has a thicker blade edge. It is useful when removing grout where the gaps are larger like in shower bases and up to wall edges. It is also a necessity for re-grouting. Sometimes when the grout lines are wide it is better to have the wider blade to reduce tile chipping. In certain case using this blade makes the job faster and easier.
I use this blade in wall tiles to remove excess grout after using the 91mm blade above. The 91mm will easily cut through the grout. I then insert the 88mm, as it is thicker blade, to easily remove excess grout. This works well in cases where the wall grout is greater than 2.3mm in width. Used in this fashion these blades last a long time. However, it can still be used as the primary grout removal blade if required.
